Otoplasty
Otoplasty (or ear surgery) is part of the aesthetic and reconstructive surgery of the outer ear and is often performed to improve the shape and size of the eardrum, as well as for various traumatic injuries.
This type of a surgery is often used for children for so-called “protruding” ears.
The purpose of this type of a surgery is to improve both the functional and aesthetic appearance of the ears, which in turn would bring satisfaction to the patient and reduce the number of psychological traumas in people who want to change small details of their appearance.
The duration of the operation is usually about 1 hour, with local anaesthesia, so that the patient can feel comfortable and not feel any pain.
In most cases, a bandage will be placed after the operation to cover the wound. The patient should not remove the bandage because it keeps the ears in the proper position.
Unless otherwise specified, the dressing should remain in place for one week.
We usually recommend wearing an elastic band (ear band) for the next 6 weeks. It is best to wear the strap even during the day.
Do not wear earrings or glasses (if possible) for 3 weeks.
