    Blepharoplasty 
 
 Blepharoplasty aims to open and refresh the look of the face. During the procedure excessive skin, fat tissue and in some cases muscle tissue  are removed from the eyelid area. Blepharoplasty is divided into two separate procedures – upper and lower blepharoplasty – correction of upper and lower eyelids. Very often the two procedures are performed together. The operation corrects the sagging skin of the upper eyelid. Fat tissues are removed. The operation corrects the so – called ‘’bags’’. Fatty “bags”are removed.  
   The best candidates for blepharoplasty are physically healthy and well informed about the procedure. They usually are over the age of 35, although genetic factors may be the reason why this treatment is also recommended for younger people. Patients may not be approved for that procedure if they have any of the following conditions : Dry eyes, High blood pressure, Cardiovascular disease, Diabetes, Glaucoma or Bazeda’s disease. 
   The first step is to go through a consultation with our specialist, where you will get informed about the whole procedure, ask all your questions and  tell the doctor about diseases, if any. 
   It is performed with local anesthesia and intravenous sedation. The duration is about an hour or two, depending on whether the plastic is made only on the upper or lower eyelid or both together. The operation can also be performed under general anesthesia. In upper blepharoplasty, an incision is made along the length of the upper eyelid, which is well hidden in the crease of the eye. Excessive skin and fat tissue are removed and, when necessary, the eyelid-lifting muscle is corrected. In lower blepharoplasty, the surgical incision is 2 millimeters below the lash line. Excessive skin, fat tissue and in some cases muscle tissue are removed. The effect is stabilized with plastic of the septal septum, which get thinner with age and does not retain fat sacs. Another variant of this operation is not to remove the fat sacs, but to turn and sew to the orbital edge. This technique fills in the gaps in the orbital area in older patients and gives a more youthful appearance. 
   The positive change in the look of the face affects the overall vision and appearance. The result of the operation is long-lasting. The scars are small and over time become invisible. In the first days after the operation, swelling and bruising under the eyes are observed. Cold compresses can help these symptoms go away faster. Discomfort and pain are affected by the most common painkillers. The sutures are removed on the 4-5th day, but for complete recovery and disappearance of discomfort it is good to provide 7-10 days. The scars should not be exposed to direct sunlight or when this happens, they should be smeared with a high sun protection factor so as not to pigment. It is recommended to wear glasses for the first 7 days.
